A stick figure sculpture called "Blue" is being removed from the grounds of the Kennedy Center. The sculpture, created by artist Joel Shapiro, depicts a figure mid-kick and was installed in 2019. Cranes were used to take down the large statue, with a road temporarily closed for several hours to facilitate the removal.

The Kennedy Center requested the deinstallation, describing it as common practice. A spokesperson expressed gratitude to the artist for the time the sculpture spent on the campus.

Further details about the removal and the Kennedy Center's plans for new art are available from the source.
