Months of uncertainty have affected over 170,000 Salvadoreños living and working legally in the United States through Temporary Protected Status. A deadline for protections covering this community passed on September 9.

These individuals, who have lived in the US for at least 25 years, have been waiting for an extension of protections. Although the Trump administration stated that Salvadoreños with TPS "maintienen protección", the community remains uncertain about the program's status.

Further information on the situation is available, as the community and its defenders continue to await formal communication from the government regarding the future of the TPS program for Salvadoreños.
